Whilst I was pregnant, my best friends kindly treated me to a spa day voucher, and this week I had the pleasure of taking a day to myself and cashing it in.
I never imagined having to wait until Ace was nearing the four month mark to have a whole day to myself (any baby free day has been reserved for work, catching up with friends or date nights) and this would mark the first day I’d be alone with my own thoughts. Bliss.
Rookery Hall is a luxury spa hotel set in 38 acres of lush, green, Cheshire countryside. Part of the Hand Picked Hotels group, this hotel was first built in 1816 and combines rustic charm with modern spa and conference facilities.
The tranquil spa is set within the hotels stable grounds and houses 7 treatment rooms, relaxation rooms and swimming and hydrotherapy pools.
Treatments on offer
Alongside using the spas relaxing facilities, I opted for an Indian Head Massage with Elemis Frangipani oil. 25 minutes of utter bliss, I never wanted it to end!
After a energising swim and sweat off in the steam room, I headed off for a two course lunch in The Spa Cafe Bar which was just what I needed to refuel.
There is plenty of choice but I opted for the Chicken Pad Thai followed by an indulgent chocolate brownie. Both were absolutely delicious and it was clean plates all round.
Time to recharge
Settling into a warm ‘bed’ with a fluffy blanket, good book and peppermint tea was the perfect way to end the day. The 40 winks I caught up on didn’t go a miss either. The relaxation room really does live up to its name.
Fancy extending the day?
Unfortunately I had to head back to my boys, but in an ideal world I’d loved to have grabbed 90 winks in their sumptuous January Suite, located in the chateau style tower. It would be the best gorgeous space to enjoy breakfast and fizz in bed.
A spa day at Rookery Hall starts at £69.00 per person including one treatment and a two course lunch
Adding dinner and an overnight day to your spa break is around £157 per person
